Today, Taplink announced that they are releasing a Cookie files policy add-on to comply with data protection laws.
Now, when the Cookie files policy add-on is connected to a Taplink page, every new visitor will get either a notification banner or a cookie consent popup.
If a notification banner is chosen, every new visitor will get a message at the bottom of the screen when they first open a Taplink page. In this message, they will be notified that further viewing of the Taplink page means they give their consent for using cookies.
For more personalized preferences, a popup form with settings can be chosen. In that case, every new visitor will get a popup form where they have to choose what cookies they agree with. Only after confirming their consent, the visitor will be able to view and interact with the Taplink page. Such confirmation is necessary for the website to be data protection laws compliant.
As a result of this update, Taplink users can now provide their services all around the world without worrying about potential problems with data protection laws.
What are Cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of data that websites use to remember things about visitors. These files keep track of what users do on the site, like their preferences, login information, etc. Cookies are useful because they make the online user experience better for the customers. They also help website owners see how people use their site.
Why do I need a Cookie Policy on my website?
Having a Cookie Policy on your website is a way to tell the visitors of your website about what cookies you use and why. This policy helps you be transparent with your visitors and lets them decide if they’re okay with your cookie choices. Additionally, in some countries, there are rules to follow a specific policy (for example GDPR), unless you want to have trouble with the law.
What is GDPR?
GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation. It’s a set of rules designed to give people more control over their personal data and how websites use it. GDPR was created by the European Union and was adopted on April 14, 2016. It became enforceable on May 25, 2018.
GDPR makes sure that companies handle personal information, like name, address, or email responsibly. It gives users the right to know what data is being saved, and how it’s being used, and allows them to say “no” to the collection of their data. It also requires companies to keep users’ data secure and notify them if there’s a data breach.
